Hi Hilary,
I'm hoping to buy a camera for my other daughter for Xmas and am completely baffled. She has always had a good quality digital and wants to upgrade to a more advanced "do a bit more" camera and I wondered if there was a good next one up to buy that you could recommend. The budget is only going to be about £300-350 so I'm not sure if that is going to be enough for something that isn't too technical but would allow her some flexibility.
Many thanks for the help if possible.

I would recommend a Pentax SLR. specifically the K100d( with a 18-55mm lens) which is a lovely camera and can be bought for under £300 or the NIKON D40 & AF DX 18-55 F3.5/5.6 G II which can also be bought for under £300. These cameras offer full creativity with the option to change lenses and add various accessories too. Should you not want to go down the SLR route, another camera would be the Fuji FinePix S8000fd - with an 18x zoom (this is called a bridge camera- filling the gap between compacts and SLR's) this is the flagship model and aimed at the enthusiast photographer. This retails for around £200. All of these cameras are really good and are highly recommended, so it is up to you! Hope this helps
