Samsung's Slim Phone Gets Best Handset Award

One of Samsung Electronics’ slim phone models has received the best handset award at a global technology exhibition, the company said today(Wednesday)

Samsung said the slide-type slim phone Ultra Edition 12.9 was given the BEST GSM Mobile Handset Award at the 2007 3GSM World Congress in Spain for its superior functions and improved user interface.

The 3GSM World Congress is a forum for leading communications companies from around the world. This year's event started in Barcelona, Spain, earlier this week for a four-day run.

Samsung said the award is the one of the world's most renowned for handset models.

This is the second time for the South Korean company to receive the award after another model claimed the distinguished prize in 2005.

The Ultra Edition 12.9 is Samsung's high-end slim phone model and features a high-resolution camera and other multimedia functions. Samsung said that it has sold more than 3.5 million worldwide since its launch last August.
